To Kill a Secret (Screenplay)

To Kill a Secret is my completed feature film screenplay. In 2018 it was chosen as a Quarterfinalist in two international contests: the BlueCat Screenplay Competition and the Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition.

I wrote most of this screenplay in 2017, when I took an Independent Study class so that I could write To Kill a Secret under the guidance of my screenwriting professor. For my work on this screenplay, my professor and my university’s English Department gave me the Outstanding Independent Study in Script Writing award.

To Kill a Secret is a superhero action-adventure screenplay. I wanted the story to have a classic action thriller vibe, reminiscent of The Fugitive film (1993) or Alfred Hitchcock’s movies, while also containing elements of superhero sci-fi. Here is the screenplay’s logline:

An insecure college student finds her mother murdered and, in the aftermath, discovers she has inexplicably gained the powers of a superhero character created by her mother—making her the next target for her mother’s killer.
